Supported by the Matthew 25 Initiative, Walmart, and other private donors, the DCA strengthens the resilience of communities in the Acadiana region of Louisiana by providing diapers and other hygiene items to families in need. We partner with local and national non-profits, government agencies, businesses, faith communities, and individuals to support this very real need. In November 2019, we submitted a proposal to the National Endowment for the Humanities, as part of their “Dialogues on the Experience of War,” to support our development of discussion group curriculum utilizing sacred texts and spiritual memoirs to show a way forward for combat veterans who are struggling to make sense of their time in service.
